"IMPRISONED" ENUGU FIRST LADY, CLARA CHIME, HIRES FALANA TO SECURE HER RELEASE

By SaharaReporters, New York
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has asked the
Inspector-General of Police, Mr. MD Abubakar, to
ensure the immediate release from unlawful
detention of Mrs. Clara Chime, the First Lady of
Enugu State who is being held hostage at
Government House Enugu by Governor Sullivan
Chime, or be dragged to court.
In a letter dated November 1, 2013, Mr. Falana,
representing Mrs. Chime, pointed out that his
client has been kept incommunicado in solitary
confinement for over four months on the
directives of Governor Chime.
"Thus our client's fundamental rights to the
dignity of her person, personal liberty, fair
hearing, private and family life and freedom of
movement guaranteed by the Constitution and
the African Charter on Human and People's Rights
(Ratification and Enforcement) Act, Laws of the
Federation of Nigeria 2004 have been violated
without any legal justification," it said.
"Although our client's dehumanizing detention
conditions have had deleterious effects on her
psychological state as well as her mental and
physical health she has been denied access to her
doctors by her abductors," the petition said. "It is
particularly disturbing to note that some of the
police and state security service personnel
assigned to secure the safety of the Enugu State
governor, his wife and other family members
have aided and abetted Mr. Chime in subjecting
our client to egregious infringements of her
aforesaid fundamental rights."
It pointed out, however, that unlike the governor
who is currently immune from prosecution under
the constitution, the police and state security
service officials involved in the illegal arrest and
detention of Mrs. Chime ought to be sanctioned
under the relevant laws.
In a letter exclusively published by
SaharaReporters on October 28, Mrs. Chime
complained that Governor Chime had placed her
under house arrest, and begged human rights
bodies to come to her rescue.
She said that eminent personalities such as
President and Mrs. Goodluck Jonathan and the
Bishop Callistus Onaga of Enugu State and other
top priests had attempted to intervene in the
matter without success.
Among other things, Mrs. Chime said she had
been introduced to two psychiatrists, Dr.
Onwukwe and Dr. Agumo, who prescribed "all
kinds of drugs that ends up keeping me acute
depressed and also drives me into
hallucinations."

ASUU STRIKE LATEST: ASUU STILL UNDECIDED AFTER A MARATHON MEETING WITH FG

After thirteen hours of negotiations, the President of
the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Dr.
Nasir Isa Fagge on tuesday morning was not
forthcoming with the new Federal Government's
offer as he insisted that his members have the final
say on the issue.
Speaking with State House correspondents, he said
that the meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan
discussed how to tackle the problem of University
education system in the country.
He said: "Well we have had lengthy meeting with
Mr. President, rubbing minds on how best to address
the problem of University education in this
country."
"And we now have a message from Mr. President
we are going to take to our members. And we are
expecting that our members will respond
appropriately to the message of Mr. President."
On whether the lecturers are going back to the
classroom, he said: "That is up to our members."
Asked what the message was, he said: "I can't tell
you. Its not for you. It is for our members."
If impressed with the message, he said: "Don't put
words into my mouth. Our members will determine
that."
Also speaking with journalists at the end of the
meeting, the Minister of Labour Emeka Wogu said:
"We made progress, the President of ASUU told you
that they are going back with a message from the
Federal Government back to their members. And
the message is full of high expectations and hope."
On whether the strike will be called off, he said:
"That is why the message is full of high
expectations and hope. So our prayers is that they
come back with positive outcome. They might not
even come back to meet us, they might take
decisions there that will meet your expectations."
"Nigerians should be patient for ASUU to finish their
meetings and come out with a message to
Nigerians."
Responding to whether the Federal Government
made a fresh offer, her said: "Well, the offer we
made are the offer they are taking in line with the
2009 agreement. The issues that led to the strike
are issues contained in the 2009 agreement and we
did not go beyond the agreement."

TOP 10 SEXIEST NOLLYWOOD MALE AND FEMALE STARS

As the year slowly draws to an end, the quest of discovering the
Sexiest men and women in the movie industry also creeps on us.
Fresh development has seen Benjamin Joseph and Nadia Buari taking
their bow, wth the top ten emerging for the final lap.
This is how it presently stands: -
————————————————————————
Men
————————————————————————
-Yul Edochie: Yul hasn't got anything to worry about almost from the
beginning of the 'quest'. The first spot for him has been a sort of
birthright.

-Ramsey Nouah: Ramsey is still on second but for him to remain so or
move up, he will need all the help he can get. Shaking at 2nd.

-Benson Okonkwo: Benson started as a low shot who is beginning to ride
home like a prince in shinning armor. Each week has been an eventful
one. Holding on to 3rd.

-Pope Odowondo: There hasn't been much separating Pope from Benson
until a couple of weeks back when he let slip on his hold, thus
allowing Benson a thrust forward. 4th place still.

-Uti Nwachukwu: Uti always looked like a trouble brewing. Now as we
come to the next phase he has overtaken Frank Artus, who is looking
more shaky everyday. Uti is now 5th

-Frank Artus: The Ghanaian star is practically living on the edge
after having pushed to the 3rd spot and then finding himself on 6th
place now.

-Ali Nuhu: Ali has been the quiet one, though, not without some
measure of strength pushing him along. This gut seems to have a
faithful follower-ship that don't give up easily. 7th place not bad.

-Van Vicker: Another Ghanaian that started like a train ready to
devour everything along its path, but somehow lost the will to fight.
He started on 2nd, 3rd but now chilling at 8th position.

-Odunlade Adekola: The only Yoruba star left in the 'quest' and this
may turn out to be a strength rather than a weakness but whichever way
it swings, a couple of months is all that is there to see. On 9th
position.

-Mike Ezuruonye: Mike was looking like a guy on his way out a couple
of weeks back but by some touch of genius he is still in the
reckoning. Last man in at 10th place.
————————————————————————
Women
————————————————————————-
-Tonto Dikeh: Tonto is now hanging on to the first place with all the
tenacity she can muster because the next person to her is breathing
hot down her neck.

-Stephanie Okereke: Stephanie keeps missing shooting off Tonto by
hairsbreadth but yet nothing missing her in her range. The ding-dong
continues between the two. Nevertheless Stephanie remains 2nd.

-Ebube Nwabo: Still keeping her 3rd spot even though Yvonne looks to
be having bad intentions week in, week out about her. The duo are also
having a tussle of sort.

-Yvonne Nelson: Yvonne is still at 4th place but very restless. Though
she lost her grip when she moved to 2nd at a point but she's coming
back so strong again.

-Angela Okorie: Angela has the funniest story among the lots. At a
point she was put up for eviction, then surviving it, she seemed to
develop a phobia for the exit as she has pushed herself up to 5th
place.

-Colette Orji: Colette too has had a scary time at one point or the
other but she has survived and is still surviving. She holds on to the
6th place.

-Biodun Okeowo: Biodun is also the only Yoruba actress remaining in
the 'quest' and what a week she has had as she has moved to 7th place.

-Queeneth Hilbert: Queeneth is as good as they come even though she
has had some turbulent stay in the quest. She's now on 8th spot.

-Cynthia Agholor: Cynthia isn't having a bad run, it is just that the
'quest' is getting more intense and too erratic for anyone to be able
to stick to anything. She remains on 9th spot.

-Rita Dominic: Our leading lady isn't having a fairytale outing in
this 'Sexiest' business. She has come short of expectation but hanging
on by the strand of her hair at 10th place.

PHOTO: CAN THIS BE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SNAKE IN THE WORLD?

Have you seen a white beautiful snake before? This Leucistic Texas Rat
Snake is a lovely lady in white. She gets her coloring and the
"leucistic" element of her name from a condition that results in a
lack of all pigmentation, rather than just melanin which appears in
albinism. This is why her eyes are of normal color. Texas Rat Snakes
are (obviously) found in Texas as well as in Arizona and Louisiana.
They are non venomous so a bite will give you little more than a sore
leg. Hmmm.......this snake is so beautiful! Inasmuch as I hate snakes,
I can definitely keep this as a pet.
